Ever since I did a photo shoot of a praying mantis on the driveway two summers ago, I’ve been taking pictures within the confines of the yard (~600 square feet) and posting them on a blog titled “Backyard Photographic.” In full disclosure, sometimes the shots take place in the greater “backyard” shared by all mankind (a.k.a. the entire planet earth). Part of the blog’s purpose is to inspire everyone to look closer at the world around you, right outside the door.
Early on, I was advised to come up with a more unique logo, mostly to avoid potential litigation for copyright infringement. Since then, I’ve been striving towards a mark that captures the feel of the work and my frame of mind while I’m shooting: seriously playful!
The latest seems dangerously close… here is a gallery documenting the development. See if you can guess the inspiration for those earliest versions…
